Timing Belts, Chains & Wet Belts – Finglas, Dublin 11

The timing belt – or chain, depending on your engine – is one of the most important components in the car.

It keeps the engine’s internal parts moving in precise sequence. When it fails, it usually does serious damage. Replacing it on schedule is one of the most cost-effective things you can do for any engine.

Know your interval

Manufacturers set specific replacement intervals for a reason. Timing belts are typically mileage and age-dependent – many require replacement every 5 years or 100,000 km, though this varies by make and model. Timing chains are designed to last longer but still wear, and they’ll give warning signs – rattling on startup, for instance – before they become a serious problem.
Wet belts run in oil rather than air, which changes both how they wear and how they’re serviced. They’re common across several European manufacturers and need careful attention at the correct interval. Miss it, and the repair bill can get significantly larger.

What we do at Keith Lenihan Motors Servicing

We replace timing belts, chains, and wet belts across a wide range of makes and models, following manufacturer specifications on parts and intervals. When a belt comes due, we’ll also check the tensioners, pulleys, and water pump, because replacing those at the same time costs far less than coming back to do it separately later.

If you’re not sure when your timing belt or chain is due, bring it in. We’ll check the service history, identify the correct interval for your engine, and give you a straight answer.

Proud to partner with BG Products and TerraClean – bringing our customers top quality in everything, from the components that we fit, to the work that we do, and the service we deliver.
